Default Is Hockey Dead in America?

Hockey used to have a decent level of popularity in this country. Then they went on strike, and people realized that they didn't really need it. On top of that, the difficult economic times have left many without the extra funds to attend games.

While they were once shown on major networks, NHL action is now shown on cable channels like Versus and ESPN 2.

Oh, how the mighty have fallen.

My question is: Is hockey dead in America, or will it eventually be able to rebound?

Based on the response to this thread, I'd say that, yes, hockey is dead in America.
