Do You Play Fantasy NASCAR?

I've never played fantasy NASCAR, and I've never even really followed the sport. I know it's popular with gearheads and people from the south, though.

The official NASCAR site has its own fantasy contests, so I took a look around to see how things work. Here's a little of what I found.

This site offers several easy-level contests where you basically try to pick the winners in a given race. The one I would be interested in is the advanced league, where you compete against seven other teams.

You can modify your team throughout the season, and you'll play head-to-head against another owner each week. Your goal is to get as good a win/loss record as possible.

Each week, you'll start four drivers, and scoring is calculated as follows:

Total Points = Qualifying Points + Sprint Cup Points

Sounds pretty simple, but I imagine there's a lot more to it.


Anyone care to comment on their fantasy NASCAR experience?

That might be fun. I like the straightforward scoring system in a fantasy Nascar league like that. I figure the Sprint Cup points already take into account laps led and a bunch of other little factors, so Nascar already has its own fantasy scoring system.

Maybe when the new season comes around, we get together our own league. I would be a rookie.

Might be worth a try, although I don't think I could bring myself to actually watch a NASCAR event. I'm glad many people enjoy it, but it seems pretty boring to me.
