Tony Stewart is one of the most versatile and
successful NASCAR drivers in the world. Tony Stewart has enjoyed success in the
NASCAR Nextel Cup, NASCAR Busch series and the NASCAR Craftsman
truck series and has raced in the Indianapolis 500. Stewart makes a
safe driver pick any week of the season for your NASCAR fantasy team.
He
always has a chance to take the checkered flag.
Born in 1971 in Columbus, Indiana, Tony
Stewart started
racing go-karts at an early age and has never looked back. He moved
from go-carts to ¾ midgets to midgets and on up to the highest
levels of the racing world where he is always a threat to win. Tony
Stewart
currently drives the number 20 car for Joe Gibbs Racing, sponsored
by Home Depot.

Though
Tony Stewart's 2007 NASCAR Nextel cup season has
started slowly, he recently was able to take his first checkered
flag and I look for him to be a strong contributor to any fantasy
NASCAR team able to acquire him for the rest of the season. As you
can see from his wins per year, Tony Stewart has won 5 races each of the
last two years and at least 2 every year since 1999. This type of
consistency is rare in any form of fantasy sports, but especially
valuable in fantasy NASCAR. The only other NASCAR driver that I
value as highly as Tony Stewart is Jeff Gordon, and either will make
a solid anchor for your team.
Another important point to consider is if you
are competing in a keeper league (where you can retain drivers from
one year to the next), Stewart is only in his mid 30’s, so he has
many productive driving years left. This makes him an even more
valuable asset. Posted by Wesley R. Young on July 16, 2007. |
